What you’ll need
- Parent account — use the Parent app or website (phone or browser).
- A child profile already added on Parent (name and birth year).
- Your child’s Android phone with internet, and the CuriOra Kids app installed.
Step 1 — Parent: get a pairing code
- Open Parent and select the child who will use this phone.
- Go to Devices.
- Tap Add device or Get pairing code.
- Keep the 6-digit code on screen (it expires after a short time).
You can do this on the Parent website or the Parent mobile app—same family.
Step 2 — Kid phone: install CuriOra Kids
- On the child’s phone, install CuriOra Kids from the store or your install link.
- Open the app and follow the short welcome screens.
Step 3 — Allow the permissions that power limits
Kids will ask for a few Android permissions. They are how fair limits and blocking work. None of them are for ads or selling data.
- Accessibility (required for blocking) — lets CuriOra close or block apps when time is up.
- Usage access (required) — lets CuriOra see which apps were used and for how long, so budgets are fair.
- Notifications (recommended) — so the phone can wake up for rule updates and parent-approved extra time.
- Location (optional) — only if you want a last check-in style “last seen” for parents. It is not continuous spy tracking. You can skip this.
More detail: Why we ask for permissions.
Step 4 — Pair with the parent code
- On Kids, choose to pair or enter a parent code.
- Type the 6-digit code from Parent.
- Wait until the app confirms the phone is linked to the child.
On Parent → Devices, you should see the phone listed for that child. Pull to refresh if it does not appear right away.
Step 5 — Set a simple plan for the day
- In Parent, open the child’s limits or settings for entertainment / daily time.
- Start with a calm daily budget you can keep (you can adjust later).
- Optional: turn on study or bedtime windows when you’re ready.
You’re done when…
- The device shows on Parent under the right child.
- Kids has Accessibility and Usage access enabled.
- Opening a limited app after time is up is blocked (test with a short limit if you like).
If something fails
- Code expired — create a new pairing code on Parent.
- Wrong child — select the correct child on Parent before pairing.
- Limits not applying — re-check Accessibility and Usage Access in Android Settings for CuriOra Kids.
